    As we are in tier 2 we are doing some things a little differently but our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests and team members.

  • COVID-19: New COVID-19 Restrictions

    Following on from the latest Government announcement we are really pleased to announce that our hotel is open. We are offering a no quibble refund policy if your booking needs to change as a result of further government announcements.

    As we are in a tier two area, please make sure you understand the latest Government information about travelling between tier areas, which can be found here

  • COVID-19: House of Daniel Thwaites – Hotel Safety Guide

    The safety of our guests and team members is our number one priority so we have put in many measures across our properties to ensure our guests can feel confident when visiting and staying in our properties and our team members can feel confident working in them too.

    To keep us all safe, we ask guests to wear face coverings in line with Government guidance.

    We're also proud to have been awarded the 'We're Good To Go' certificate from Visit England; the official mark to confirm we have a risk assessment and the correct processes in place to make Langdale Chase safe for our team and guests.

    AA COVID-19 Confident:
    We’re also really proud to have been accredited COVID-19 Confident by the AA – another independent assessment of the safety measures we have in place.

  • COVID-19: Restaurant Pre-booking & Opening Times

    Following the current Government guidelines, last orders in our bar and restaurant is 10pm, however after this time room service is available to guests. Please note that alcoholic drinks can only be served as part of a substantial meal so we are therefore unable to serve alcoholic drinks on their own.

    Please ensure to pre-book your breakfast sitting in advance of arrival. We also advise to pre-book your dinner reservation in advance of your stay. Please contact our Reservations team to book both your breakfast and dinner reservations.

  • COVID-19: ROOM INFORMATION REGARDING GUESTS SHARING

    You can stay in a hotel in a tier two area. However, you should only do this with people in your household or support bubble.

  • COVID-19: Meetings, weddings and receptions

    Our meeting spaces are a COVID secure environment, meaning we can continue to allow up to 30 people in our setting with social distancing and our COVID Risk Assessment measures are enforced.

    In regards to weddings we’re still able to offer an intimate experience of up to 15 guests and this is the same for receptions and other related ceremonies.

    In the Very High Level (Tier 3) weddings can continue but receptions cannot.

  • COVID-19: Government Changes to VAT in Hospitality

    We can confirm that the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands and we would like to explain the reason for this.

    The reduction in VAT is a great initiative which has been introduced to help hospitality businesses during these challenging times as per the guidance released from the Government. The full announcement can be seen here and below is a summary of the key messages:

    “The government made an announcement on 8 July 2020 allowing VAT registered businesses to apply a temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT to certain supplies relating to:

    • Hospitality
    • Hotel and holiday accommodation
    • Admissions to certain attractions


    The temporary reduced rate will apply to supplies that are made between 15 July 2020 and 12 January 2021.

    These changes are being brought in as an urgent response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to support businesses severely affected by forced closures and social distancing measures.”

    After sadly being closed for three months and the increased costs we need to absorb in line with government guidance, our business has been severely affected by the pandemic. This initiative is a huge support to our business and the hospitality sector as a whole and it also enables us to bring more of our valued team members back off furlough.

    We hope you understand why the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands. We hugely value your custom and support and we are really looking forward to welcoming you. We would also like to take this opportunity to reassure you that your safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of everything we do to ensure that you have a memorable and enjoyable stay with us.

  • What are check in and check out times?

    Check in time is 3 pm. If you arrive in the Lake District earlier, our reception team can store your luggage. You can leave your car in our car park and you can also enjoy our terrace, lounge and gardens while you wait for your room.  Check out time is 11 am.  We can arrange for early check ins and late check outs and a small supplement is charged.

  • Is the hotel dog-friendly?

    We are a dog-friendly hotel. Dogs are permitted in a selection of our bedrooms at an additional charge of £15.00 per dog, per stay. You can sit with your dog while you enjoy meals and refreshments in the Baronial Hall, Piano Lounge, and the lake view outdoor terrace.

  • Is there a car park?

    Yes we have free onsite parking for residents and patrons.

  • What family facilities are there?

    Many of our bedrooms can accommodate extra beds and cots for children and we have a children’s menu.

    There are many children’s activities in the immediate area, including Brockhole Visitor Centre which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

  • Do you cater for special diets?

    Yes – vegetarian and gluten-free dishes appear on our main menu as the norm.

    We have a team of talented chefs and if you let us know – ideally in advance for more unusual requests – we’ll do all we can to ensure you can enjoy a great meal with us.
