    We are really happy to confirm that our outdoor terrace will be open, weather permitted, for brunch-sunset meals from 10am each day as well as a selection of beautiful self-contained rooms for 3 or 4 nights stays.

    In line with government guidelines, we're doing things a little differently. Please see our FAQs for more details on room bookings and dining with us.

  • COVID-19: New COVID-19 Restrictions

    Following on from the latest Government announcement we are happy to announce that we are re-opening from 17th May 2021 for both overnight leisure stays and food and drink. 

    You can book an overnight stay with confidence knowing that we offer free cancellations on all fully-flex rates up until 10:00am on the day of arrival.

  • COVID-19: Gift Voucher Extensions

    Following on from the Government announcement on 4th January 2021, our hotel will remain temporarily closed for all leisure stays.

    Therefore, we have further extended all gift vouchers as follows:

    • All vouchers due to expire between 01/11/2020 and 28/02/2021 have been extended to the 31/08/2021
    • All vouchers due to expire between 01/03/2021 and 17/05/2021 have been extended to the 17/11/2021

  • COVID-19: Government Changes to VAT in Hospitality

    We can confirm that the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands and we would like to explain the reason for this.

    The reduction in VAT is a great initiative which has been introduced to help hospitality businesses during these challenging times as per the guidance released from the Government. The full announcement can be seen here and below is a summary of the key messages:

    “The government made an announcement on 8 July 2020 allowing VAT registered businesses to apply a temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT to certain supplies relating to:

    • Hospitality
    • Hotel and holiday accommodation
    • Admissions to certain attractions

    These changes are being brought in as an urgent response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to support businesses severely affected by forced closures and social distancing measures.”

    The temporary reduced rate will apply to supplies that are made between 15 July 2020 and 31st March 2021.

    Since this announcement, the government has further extended the temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT until 30 September 2021.

    After sadly being closed for the majority of the last year and the increased costs we need to absorb in line with government guidance, our business has been severely affected by the pandemic. This initiative is a huge support to our business and the hospitality sector as a whole and it also enables us to bring more of our valued team members back off furlough.

    We hope you understand why the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands. We hugely value your custom and support and we are really looking forward to welcoming you. We would also like to take this opportunity to reassure you that your safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of everything we do to ensure that you have a memorable and enjoyable stay with us.

  • What are check in and check out times?

    Check in time is 3 pm. If you arrive in the Lake District earlier, our reception team can store your luggage. You can leave your car in our car park and you can also enjoy our terrace, lounge and gardens while you wait for your room.  Check out time is 11 am.  We can arrange for early check ins and late check outs and a small supplement is charged.

  • Is the hotel dog-friendly?

    We are a dog-friendly hotel. Dogs are permitted in a selection of our bedrooms at an additional charge of £15.00 per dog, per stay. You can sit with your dog while you enjoy meals and refreshments in the Baronial Hall, Piano Lounge, and the lake view outdoor terrace.

  • Is there a car park?

    Yes we have free onsite parking for residents and patrons.

  • What family facilities are there?

    Many of our bedrooms can accommodate extra beds and cots for children and we have a children’s menu.

    There are many children’s activities in the immediate area, including Brockhole Visitor Centre which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

  • Do you cater for special diets?

    Yes – vegetarian and gluten-free dishes appear on our main menu as the norm.

    We have a team of talented chefs and if you let us know – ideally in advance for more unusual requests – we’ll do all we can to ensure you can enjoy a great meal with us.
